Our Five Star Deluxe Meal :)

Okay so yes, I am addicted to sweet treats, but on Saturday I was kind of sweeted out and so Camber, Kaylee, and I decided to make something for a rainy day. Let me tell you, it was pouring cats and dogs on Saturday. We decided to have home made macaroni and cheese, bread sticks with Alfredo sauce, and a smoothie. BREAD STICKS- Step 1 : you can use any kind of pre-made dough to make these. We used Rhodes Rolls.

BREAD STICKS- Step 2: we had to defrost ours because they had been in the freezer, we just stuck them in the microwave until it was soft enough to roll.

BREAD STICKS3: Roll out into strips and place on/in a pan whatever you prefer. Then melt butter or margarine and spread on bread sticks, there shouldn't be ton, but not too little either because you have to be able to have a spice stay on it.

BREAD STICKS- Step 3: Put Italian Seasoning on top and then stick in the oven as directed on the back of your package, or until done.

Italian Seasoning :)

ALFREDO SAUCE: Well I had a picture of the ingredients, but it didn't upload right, so we just made some home made Alfredo sauce from scratch from a recipe we found online. It turned out perfect for dipping our bread sticks in.

HOME MADE MACARONI AND CHEESE- Step 1: You can either boil your water in a pan and whatnot, or a really cool way that a friend showed me was to fill up a microwaveable bowl with water, put your noodles in and place in the microwave for 10-15 minutes or until done. It takes a lot less work, and then you don't have to wash as many pots and pans (of course a teenager like me would think of that kind of stuff).

HOME MADE MACARONI AND CHEESE- Step 2: The sauce-- This sauce is really easy to make.

Ingredients: 1 tbsp. butter, 1 tbsp. flour, 3/4 cup of milk, cheese of your choice. (I like to use cheddar, or mixed cheddar, and mozzarella).

1. Put your tbsp. butter in pan over the stove and melt

2. When your butter is melted stick in the tbsp. flour and mix

3. When your butter and flour is all clumped up then pour in the 3/4 C. milk and stir until it comes to a boil and all of the buttery flour chunks are gone.

4. Add the cheese until it is cheesy enough for you.

HOME MADE MACARONI AND CHEESE- Step 3: Pour the sauce over your noodles!

HOME MADE MACARONI AND CHEESE- Step 4: I like to put salt and pepper on the noodles to add more flavor, but it is a personal preference.

SMOOTHIE- Step 1: I don't really have a recipe for our smoothie, we just stuck in some mixed fruit, milk orange juice, pretty much anything we could find and wanted in our smoothie. It turns out great every time though.

FINAL RESULT: And our final result is this beautiful meal. It was delicious, hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Cake Bites Experiment: SUCCESS

So my truly amazing mom took a trip to Las Vegas and brought back a really cool book for me called "Cake Pops" by : Bakerella. It is a really creative book with lots of cool things that you can do with this basic recipe, and I was really excited to try out some of the recipes in the book. So after school today my BFF that does a lot of cooking with me came over and we tried out this recipe. It worked! SWEET success. Below are step by step of how we did it.

Cake Bites: step-by-step

Step 1: We decided to do a vanilla cake and so we followed the directions on the back and the stuck the cake in the oven for 30-35 minutes. Step 2: After the cake was done, we took it out of the oven, and then placed it into the fridge to cool while we were making the frosting.

Step 3: The recipe calls for pre-made frosting (the kind that you get in a can from the store). We didn't have any so we used a recipe out of the book for vanilla frosting. It turned out just at good with the home made frosting as it would have with the pre-made frosting that you buy from the store.
Step 3 continued: haha we also didn't have much vanilla extract which the recipe calls for. So as a substitute for the remaining vanilla needed we used coconut extract. It tasted so good. We are actually going to experiment in a little bit with a pina colada cupcake using this frosting we kind of invented.

Step 4: we mixed the frosting and then we placed a damp cloth over it to keep it from going hard and staying moist while we did step 5.

Step 5: (No picture sorry) Take you cooled cake out of the fridge and break the cake into very SMALL crumbs into a bowl. Then take your frosting and mix together, there should be no clumps of frosting, it should be pretty evenly distributed. It should also be pretty sticky for it to stick together for step 6.
Step 6: Take the "mixture" and roll it into 1 1/2" balls and place on a pan with wax paper on it. When all of your "mixture" has been rolled into balls and placed on the pan. Put into the freezer for 15 minutes or until firm. You don't want them to be frozen but firm.

Step 7: take some choclate and melt it in the microwave, be careful not to burn your chocolate thought. Take lollipop stick and dip it into the chocolate. Only cover the tip of your stick about the size of your pinky. Not very much at all.

Step 8: Take your stick and put it into the middle of your cake bite. Don't put the stick anymore than 1/2 way throught.

Step 9: Dip and completely cover your cake bite in chocolate and then set back on the pan and when you are done dipping the rest of your cake bites into chocolate place into the freezer unti they are set. Then eat away. DELICIOUS!!!

My Sweet Addiction

Yes, I will admit it... I am addicted to cooking sweet treats. I love to watch Cup Cake Wars, and Cake boss and all of those other great cooking show that make you so hungry. My wonderful mom realizing my addiction bought me a book of how to make cake balls and that kind of yummy stuff so I started this blog to show you how I did it. I also started this blog so that you could learn from my wonderful mistakes:) I will be posting stuff about once or twice a week letting you know how my experiments go.
